Translations
GearCheck ships in 8 languages. See how your personal language is chosen, how a guild's default language works, and how to report a translation that looks wrong.

Goal
Everyone knows which language they'll see, how to change it, and how to get a bad translation fixed instead of just living with it.
Before You Start
- GearCheck installed in the server you're using.
- Manage Server permission in Discord, if you're setting the guild's default language rather than just your own.
Steps
Know the 8 supported languages
GearCheck's dashboard and Discord-facing messages are available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Norwegian.
Understand how your language is picked
Your personal language choice wins first. If you haven't set one, GearCheck falls back to the guild's configured language, and finally to English if neither is set.
Set your personal language
Open the language picker at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar and choose a language. This applies immediately and follows your account across every server you manage, overriding the guild default for you specifically.
Set the guild's default language
Guild owners and managers set the server-wide default during the Setup Wizard's Language step. This is what members and staff see until they pick a personal language of their own, and it also derives the guild's default OCR language for evidence parsing.
Report a bad translation
If dashboard or Discord text looks wrong, mistranslated, or inconsistent, run /support in Discord and describe what you saw and what it should say instead. Staff can trace it back to the translation key and fix it.
Launch Checklist
- You know whether you're looking at your personal language or the guild default.
- The language picker in the dashboard sidebar shows the language you expect.
- The Setup Wizard's Language step reflects the language new members should see by default.
- A reported translation issue includes the text and what it should say instead.
Common Pitfalls
- Assuming a personal language change updates the guild default for everyone else; it only changes what you see.
- Reporting a bad translation without saying what the text should say instead, which slows down the fix.
- Forgetting that the guild's default language also drives the derived OCR language for evidence parsing.
