Before You Start

  • Permission to change bot messages. Without it you can still read every message and its preview.
  • A clear idea of the tone your guild wants.
  • A test thread or channel where you can run the real flow after saving.

Steps

  1. Pick a message

    Open Bot Messages and choose a message from the list. Each row says whether it uses your text or the default, and a Custom badge marks the ones you changed.

  2. Turn on Use my text and write

    Switch on Use my text, then write your own words. Required fields must stay in the text: the page names the missing one and blocks Save until you add it back. The live preview shows how the message will read in Discord.

  3. Save and read the result

    Press Save. The line beside the button says what changed, such as the channel the message now posts in. If you turn Use my text off later, your saved text stays on file and the message goes back to the default.

  4. Reset or undo

    Open More and choose Reset to default. The dialog lists what will be deleted. Right after a reset, Undo puts your saved text back, until you leave the message.

Check It Worked

  • The preview reads the way you meant, with no warning above the Save button.
  • Every required field is still in the message.
  • After saving, the row shows Custom, or Saved, not used when Use my text is off.
  • Reset to default works, and Undo brings your text back.

Common Pitfalls

  • Deleting a required field because it feels repetitive.
  • Turning off Use my text and expecting your text to be sent: it waits on file, and the default is what members see.
  • Resetting and then leaving the message: Undo is gone once you leave.
